Klingons, Starfleet officers, and fans of all stripes will gather at the Hilton Seattle Airport & Conference Center hotel on August 24-25, 2013 for The Official Star Trek Convention. The two-day event will feature an impressive line-up of guest speakers, headlined by two captains: William Shatner (Captain Kirk) and Kate Mulgrew (Voyager’s Captain Janeway). Mulgrew will appear on both Saturday and Sunday.
Beyond those two legendary actors, Trek fans will have the chance to witness in-person appearances by a stellar array of additional performers. Saturday’s line-up includes the women of The Next Generation: Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troi), Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher), and Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar). Enterprise will be represented by Connor Trinneer (Trip Tucker).
Klingon fan favorites J.G. Hertzler (Martok) and Robert O’Reilly (Gowron) will make a joint appearance in full makeup. Additionally, makeup artist John Paladin will transform Suzie Plakson into one of her four Trek characters, K’Ehleyr (Worf’s half-Klingon, half-human mate), live onstage. All of that makes up Saturday alone.
In addition to Shatner and Mulgrew, Sunday’s special guests include The Next Generation’s LeVar Burton (Geordi LaForge) and Dominic Keating (Malcolm Reed) from Enterprise. A special 20th anniversary celebration of Deep Space Nine will feature appearances by Max Grodenchik and Aron Eisenberg, who portrayed Ferengi Rom and Nog, respectively. Also from Deep Space Nine, Nana Visitor (Major Kira Nerys) and Chase Masterson (Leeta) will be on-hand. From Voyager, Garrett Wang (Ensign Harry Kim) will appear.
If all that weren’t enough, the famous Star Trek Vendor’s Room will feature meet-and-greet and autograph signings by Jon Steuer (Worf’s son K’Ehyler), screenwriter Morgan Gendel (TNG’s “The Inner Light”), and Carel Struycken (Mr. Homm on TNG). The Vendor’s Room will, of course, also be home to tons of merchandise and collectibles available for browsing or purchase by convention attendees.
Adventurous fans take note: Dominic Keating and Garrett Wang will host the Saturday Night Karaoke Cocktail Party, free to all. The potential for celebrity drop-in appearances should entice those curious to check out the party (and those brave enough to do some singing).
