Boardwalk Empire's Paz De La Huerta, Not Hot
The Emmy Awards are considered to be the "television" event of the year and with so many famous faces in attendance, there will always be some seriously beautiful fashion… and some equally horrendous fashion faux pas. This year proved to be no different.
Normally receiving top marks for her fashion choices, Katie Holmes (left) was a C grade student in a full length Calvin Klein gown, which was far too big for her. Even a waist belt did nothing to stop the willowy star’s figure from being totally overpowered in this baggy, not-so-little number.
The beautiful Julianna Margulies (below right) almost didn’t make it to the awards ceremony as her flight was canceled, leaving her precious little time to choose her outfit. The actress said to E! TV’s Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet “I did find the dress last night at nine. (It was) not good.“
How right she was, as the usually stylish Margulies looked uncomfortable in a stiff, white Armani PrivĂ© evening gown. Evidently though, losing out in the style circuits didn’t hinder The Good Wife star as she won Best Actress in a Drama Series.
There were a few serious contenders but there was only one winner of the ceremony’s ‘worst dressed’ award and that was Paz de la Huerta (top photo). The Boardwalk Empire star looked grumpy and bored; her face plastered with foundation a good few shades darker than her natural tone and combined with a hideous shade of grey lipstick.
Her dress choice was ok but did nothing to distract from her awful make up and disheveled hair that, frankly, looked like a bad wig.
Perhaps Paz should take some style tips from Best Actress in a Miniseries or Movie winner Kate Winslet, who looked stunning in a fitted Elie Saab scarlet gown complete with a beautifully tousled up-do.
Red was the colour of the evening with sparkles and sequins also playing an important role. Clare Danes looked stunning in a sequined patterned column dress by Oscar de la Renta, and Evan Rachel Wood was gothically glamorous in a black beaded fishtail Elie Saab creation.
Although she also plumped for a beautiful dazzling gown by Johanna Johansson, Christina Hendricks (left) proved once more that she is a one trick pony by showing more cleavage than a Playboy Bunny party.
Hendricks’ curves are legendary, and it is refreshing that she has embraced them rather than slimming down like most Hollywood starlets, but her propensity to show off her impressive assets has grown dull to the point of vulgarity.
The good, the bad and the downright ugly were all out in force at last night’s Emmy Awards. Who were the winners and who were the losers of the style stakes? You decide.
