If you were sentient on 9/11/01 you undoubtedly remember the eerie clarity of the air that day across much of the eastern U.S., you remember where you were when you heard the news about the first plane (driving to my office after dropping my daughter off at preschool), the mad confusion, the horriffic realization of what this was all about when the second plane hit, the collapse of the Twin Towers, more madness at the Pentagon and over the skies of western Pennsylvania.
Imagine going through all of this in public, trying to convey the reality and enormity of the situation without resorting to hyperbole or even panic. Tom Brokaw lived it.
