Earliest Hitchcock Feature Coming to Motion Picture Academy

By , Editor
Alfred Hitchcock is one of the most storied names in motion picture history. It's amazing to think that work by even so popular and storied a name as Hitchcock is still missing or incomplete.

Thought to be lost, the first three reels (the fourth is still missing) of Hitchcock's 1924 film The White Shadow were unearthed in the New Zealand Film Archive and are being presented at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills on September 22. It's a Hitchcockian bonanza.

whiteshadow the two bettys.jpgThe White Shadow is an "atmospheric melodrama starring Betty Compson in a dual role as twin sisters, one angelic and the other 'without a soul.'" Hitchcock was clearly fascinated by dangerous women from the very beginning.
