Kate warmly received the cancer patient on the tarmac at Calgary Airport.
Little Diamond Marshall had one dream come true when she met the Duchess of Cambridge during the royal tour of Canada in 2011. The photo of six-year-old Diamond presenting flowers to Kate was one of the most touching of the tour.
The young cancer patient had watched the royal wedding on TV and sent a letter asking to meet the bride.
An even more important goal was reached on December 20 when Diamond was reported to be free of cancer.
The Calgary Sun quoted the swift response from Kate and William when they were advised of Diamond's improved health: “[They] asked me to convey how pleased they are to hear the news and their best wishes to Diamond and her family at this happy time,” wrote a palace spokesman, officially speaking on Their Royal Highnesses’ behalf. “They hope for a joyful 2012 for Diamond and her family.”
Next year Diamond faces a bone marrow transplant to continue the treatment of her adrenal cancer. Diamond's other big event in 2012 will be a trip to Disneyland to meet Princess Aurora, a trip made possible by Dreams Take Flight.
