One of the more atypical comic book adaptations in recent memory, 2 Guns is a big screen version of Steven Grant’s graphic novel series of the same name. It struggled a bit amidst heavy competition at cinemas this past summer, but managed to pull off a $130 million worldwide gross largely on the strength of its stars: Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. Generally positive reviews certainly didn’t hurt either (2 Guns currently stands at 64% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes).
While 2 Guns arrives on Blu-ray and DVD November 19, it’s currently available to purchase via Universal’s Digital HD service. This option should appeal to those who wish to access 2 Guns immediately and watch on any device; tablet, smartphone, smart TV, connected BD players, game consoles, you name it. It’s pretty much the ultimate in flexibility. One cool thing about Digital HD is that the download includes some of the features that will be found on the DVD, including a selection of deleted scenes and the featurette “Undercover and Into Action.”
If you wait for the DVD release, you’ll also get audio commentary by director Baltasar Kormákur (Contraband, The Deep) and producer Adam Siegel. The Blu-ray combo pack adds three exclusive featurettes. “The Good, The Bad, and the Sexy” features interviews with cast members Washington, Wahlberg, Paula Patton, Bill Paxton, Edward James Olmos, and James Marsden. There’s also “Finding the Vibe” and “Living Dangerously,” which sheds light on the film’s many high-octane stunts.
